Cycling across the country is an incredible adventure that requires a lot of preparation, endurance, and resilience. On our second day of cycling, we started in Pine Valley, CA, with high spirits and a lot of energy to cover the distance to our next stop, El Centro, CA.

The day started off great as we cycled through scenic roads surrounded by beautiful landscapes, rolling hills, and breathtaking views. The weather was perfect, and the wind was in our favor, which helped us make great time. We were able to cover a significant distance without any major issues, and we were confident that we would reach our destination in good time.

However, our optimism was quickly dampened as we hit the last five miles of our journey. The farm road we encountered was in a terrible state and had been completely eroded, making it impossible to cycle through easily. The last five miles took us 45 minutes to complete and we almost had to reverse course due to a road closure. We were exhausted and frustrated, but we knew that giving up was not an option. Kids need bikes and we want to raise money to make that happen.

After what felt like an eternity, we finally arrived in El Centro, where we met up with Papa Tom and Kevin, who had prepared an amazing dinner for us. We were greeted with the tantalizing aroma of burgers and potatoes, which immediately lifted our spirits. The food was delicious, and it was exactly what we needed after a long day on the road. It was the perfect reward for our hard work and determination.

As we enjoyed our meal and shared stories of our journey so far, we realized that our experience was not just about the physical challenges we faced but also the emotional and mental challenges that came with it. We learned to push through our limits and to never give up, even when things seemed impossible. We also realized that the support and encouragement of our friends and loved ones were crucial in helping us stay motivated and focused on our goal.

Our second day of cycling across the country was a mix of highs and lows. We encountered a challenging road, but we persevered and were rewarded with an amazing meal and the satisfaction of knowing that we had accomplished something great. We were ready to take on the next leg of our journey, knowing that no matter what obstacles we faced, we would continue to push forward and make it to our destination.
