On Day 13 of our trip, we stayed in El Paso, Texas, instead of riding to Fort Hancock, Texas as originally planned. Unfortunately, I was battling a sinus infection since Day 10, and we knew it would be best to take a break and let my body recover. However, we also knew that we needed to stay on schedule if we wanted to complete the entire route on time. So, we made the decision to take the rest day but stack two rides together for the following day: El Paso, TX to Fort Hancock, TX, and Fort Hancock, TX to Van Horn, TX.
This decision means we will have to cycle 120 miles in one day, which will be the longest ride we have planned for the entire trip. We know it will be challenging, but we also know that we are up for the task.
